I Tried L’Oreal Wonder Water Hair Treatment And Here Are My Honest Thoughts | Purchases

When I first heard L’Oréal 8 Seconds Water and how it transformed tired hair across the pond, I knew I had to try it. After reading countless reviews about how it made hair soft, silky, and ultimately shiny like a Love Islander’s cheekbone, I had to give it a try.

And, when it finally arrived in the UK and was available on Amazon Premier, guess what, I had to try it.

The day has finally arrived and I am happy to report that the experience was nothing short of magical. The Wonder Water has definitely made my hair shiny and noticeably softer. It’s no Olaplex (more on that later) but overall I encourage all my friends to buy it.

What is L’Oréal 8 Minute Miracle Water?

It’s basically a liquid conditioning treatment (part of the Elvive Dream Lengths range) that promises to leave your hair 10 times smoother with a “glassy shine and silky feel”. It’s designed to be used as a rinse, between your shampoo and conditioner, and you just have to leave it on for eight seconds.

A duration in which we fit in perfectly, thank you L’Oréal.

It is recommended for long, damaged hair and L’Oréal was the first hair care brand in the United States to use lamellar water technology. Essentially, the breakthrough ingredient targets only damaged areas of your hair without over-coating or over-treating.

Sounds pretty cool, huh?

How was the L’Oréal Wonder Water honestly?

Once my hair was washed, I started adding the product to my lengths and ends. The bottle cleverly has indicators to highlight the recommended dose and the oily and watery feel formula at the same time.

I felt an uncomfortable tingle on my scalp (probably best kept to avoid your actual head) and although reviewers wished it came in a spray bottle, rather than a nozzle top, I found it easy to apply without dropping most into the plug hole.

Not one to play by the rules I left it on for 20 seconds wanting to make sure I reaped as much benefit as possible and when I washed the product off my hair felt like it had just had a super-nourishing conditioning treatment. I followed with my faithful Redken Extreme Lengths Conditioner then washed as usual.

After showering, I normally treat my hair with a buffet of styling products (serums, protective sprays, leave-in products) but I decided, in the quest for a fair test, to leave my hair BARE.

I didn’t blow dry my hair as I was exhausted watching The Wire with my boyfriend (soz) so just let it air dry. Normally a recipe for absolute frizz disaster.

Although neglecting the last steps of my hair care, I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

My hair is definitely shiny, smooth and much more manageable. It didn’t miraculously fix my split ends and my hair didn’t feel stronger, more like he was wearing a very, VERY silky jacket. And the shine? Superb.

So if you’re looking for something to repair the condition of your hair, a protein treatment like Olaplex may be a better fit for you.

If you’re looking for shiny, silky hair that can’t stop touching for less than a decade, you really can’t go wrong. I have already bought two more bottles.

Things we learned during the lockdowns:

Small moons: the Mochi dessert which is basically small scoops of ice cream wrapped in a sweet rice batter. The flavors are GOOD (think cookie dough passion fruit) and they’re only 69 calories per scoop. TikTok is going WILD for them. Try them now and thank us later.

The TikTok tortilla wrap: the old one would have tempted us with a kind of “rolled sausage” for our midday envelope, but now it’s about cutting a line down the center and folding it in quarters. Honestly, our minds are still blown.

Bridgerton: the Netflix series which is a glorious mix between Downton Abbey and Gossip girl has made us all dream of summer evenings, Regé-Jean Page and wearing fancy corsets. We can’t wait for season 2, place in 2022!
